Active-duty paydays are the 1st and 15th of each month. When either falls on a weekend or federal holiday, DFAS pays on the business day before. In 2026 that puts three paydays in July, October and December and one in March, August and November.

Which months have three paydays in 2026?
July, October and December. In each one the end-of-month payday comes back into the same month: July 1, 15 and 31; October 1, 15 and 30; December 1, 15 and 31.
Why do some months have only one payday?
A payday that moves early leaves the next month short. The payday due Jan 1, 2026 arrives Wed, Dec 31, 2025, so January has one. March’s first payday arrives at the end of February; August’s first payday arrives at the end of July; November’s first payday arrives at the end of October.
Can I get paid early?
Some banks and credit unions release military direct deposits a day or two before payday. That depends on your bank, not DFAS, so budget around the dates above.
