SSI is paid on the 1st of each month. When the 1st is a weekend or federal holiday, it arrives on the business day before, sometimes in the previous month. In 2026 that means two SSI payments arrive in July, October and December and none in March, August and November. It’s still one payment per month.
Next SSI payment: Friday, October 30, 2026
These dates match SSA’s 2026 payment schedule (Publication 05-10031) date for date.

Why do some months have two SSI payments?
SSA’s handbook (§ 121.5) says that when the 1st “falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or Federal holiday,” SSI is delivered on the first day before it that isn’t one. So the payment for February 2026, March 2026, August 2026, November 2026 and January 2027 arrives in the month before. Budget it for the month it’s for.
How much is SSI in 2026?
In 2026 the federal SSI payment is up to $994 a month for an individual and $1,491 for a couple. Some states add a supplement, and your amount may be lower if you have other income.
What if I get SSI and Social Security?
You’re paid twice a month: SSI on the 1st and Social Security on the 3rd (each moved earlier for weekends and holidays). See the 2026 Social Security schedule.
